Lost Your Data? Let's See If GoGeeks Can Help.

Losing important files is incredibly frustrating, isn't it? Whether it's cherished memories, important documents, or crucial business records, having them vanish can feel overwhelming. We understand. At GoGeeks, our goal is to thoroughly assess your situation and then work diligently to attempt recovery of your valuable data. We believe in being completely upfront and clear about our process and all costs involved.

Please read carefully: Our service begins with an initial call-out and assessment fee. If we proceed to recovery at our workshop, you will only be charged for the successful data recovery portion of the service once we've assessed your drive and you've agreed to the recovery cost.

Understanding Your Data Recovery Journey with GoGeeks

When data goes missing, you need a clear, reliable path to explore recovery. GoGeeks offers a structured approach: we start with an onsite visit to collect your device, conduct a preliminary assessment, and then transfer it to our dedicated workshop for a detailed investigation. We serve Melbourne and Geelong exclusively. You won't find a public shopfront as our focus is on efficient, convenient collection and a thorough workshop-based recovery process.

Important Service Focus: Our primary expertise lies in addressing software-related data loss from functional internal hard drives (HDDs) where files have been accidentally deleted or the drive has been formatted.

What we can potentially recover

What We Can Potentially Recover

Our service is specifically designed for certain data loss scenarios. We focus on attempting recovery from internal hard disk drives (HDDs) that are still working physically but have encountered:

  • Accidental File Deletion: Where files were mistakenly deleted from your hard drive.
  • Hard Drive Reformatting: Where your hard drive was reformatted, and you need to recover data from it.

Situations Where We Currently CANNOT Assist (Important Information)

To maintain full transparency and avoid any misunderstanding, there are specific situations where our services are not applicable. We highly recommend seeking a specialist cleanroom data recovery service for these complex issues:

  • Physically Damaged Hard Drives: We cannot recover data from hard drives that are making clicking, grinding, or buzzing noises, have suffered from drops, impact, fire, liquid spills (water damage), or any other clear physical failure. These problems require highly specialised "cleanroom" environments and equipment which we do not operate.
  • Completely Failed or Unresponsive Hard Drives: If your hard drive is not spinning up, not detected by your computer at all, or has suffered from an internal hardware failure, we are unable to help.
  • External USB Drives, USB Sticks (Thumb Drives): At this time, our recovery services are focused exclusively on internal hard disk drives (HDDs) for logical issues (deleted files or reformatting). We do not service external storage devices.
  • Ransomware Encrypted Data: We do not offer services for decrypting or recovering data locked by ransomware.

Our Transparent Data Recovery Process & Costs

Transparency is vital. Here’s a clear breakdown of how our service works and associated costs:

  1. Onsite Call-Out & Initial Device Collection: We will visit your home or business in Melbourne or Geelong to collect your device and conduct a brief initial assessment to confirm it fits our service criteria.
    1. Call-Out Fee (Non-Refundable):
      1. $160 inc GST for Home Users
      2. $200 inc GST for Business Users
    2. This fee is charged at the time of the visit. It covers our travel, time, and the initial assessment to determine if your drive is a candidate for our workshop process. This fee is payable regardless of whether data recovery is ultimately possible or successful.
  2. Workshop Assessment: After collection, your hard drive is securely transported to our workshop for a detailed technical assessment. This in-depth analysis allows us to thoroughly evaluate the feasibility of recovery and estimate the amount of data we anticipate retrieving.
  3. Personalised Recovery Cost Proposal: Once the detailed workshop assessment is complete, and we have a clear understanding of what data is potentially recoverable, we will provide you with a specific, total cost for the data recovery service.
  4. Your Decision & Recovery Phase:
    1. If you choose to approve the provided recovery cost, we will proceed diligently with the data recovery process.
    2. Crucially, you will only be charged the recovery portion of the cost if we successfully recover the agreed-upon data.
    3. If you decide to decline the recovery cost after our assessment, or if we determine during the workshop assessment that data recovery is genuinely not possible through our methods, we will arrange to return your hard drive to you. The initial call-out fee remains payable, as it covers the services already rendered (travel, collection, and workshop assessment)

Ready to Start the Assessment and Explore Recovery?

Let's discuss your specific situation. We'll listen and help confirm if our service aligns with your needs before we proceed.

Frequently asked questions

Here are some common questions about our data recovery service.

Still have Question? We're happy to answer them with no pressure. Call us any time at 1300 123 456

No, unfortunately, we cannot. Our services are specifically for software-related data loss on physically working hard drives. Clicking noises or non-spinning drives indicate physical damage that requires highly specialised cleanroom facilities, which we do not have

Currently, no. Our data recovery service is exclusively for internal hard disk drives (HDDs) dealing with accidental deletion or reformatting issues. We do not service external drives, USB flash drives, or Solid State Drives (SSDs) at this time.

There's an initial non-refundable call-out fee of $159 for home users and $199 for business users. This fee covers our travel, collection, and a detailed workshop assessment. After this assessment, we will provide you with a specific quote for the data recovery itself. You only pay this recovery quote if we successfully retrieve your data.

If, after our detailed workshop assessment, we determine that recovery isn't possible through our methods, or if you decide not to proceed with the recovery quote, we will return your hard drive to you. The initial call-out fee remains payable, as it covers the services rendered (travel, collection, and workshop assessment).

The timeframe varies. The initial onsite collection is usually quick. The workshop assessment can take a few business days depending on complexity. If recovery proceeds, the duration will depend on the amount of data and the severity of the logical damage. We'll provide an estimated timeline after the workshop assessment.

Absolutely. We understand the sensitive nature of your data. We handle all devices and information with the strictest confidentiality and care throughout every stage of our assessment and potential recovery process.
